THE SYRIAN ARMENIAN RELIEF FUND – ARMENIAN GENERAL BENEVOLENT UNION

The Syrian Armenian Relief Fund (SARF) was founded in 2012 as a collaborative effort of the major Armenian organizations in the United States. Its purpose is to provide aid and assistance to Armenians in Syria — primarily in Aleppo — who are victims of the ravaging Syrian civil war.

Over time, the aid and assistance in Syria have taken many forms. SARF’s main partner is a sister-organization on the ground in Aleppo, SHDAB, a Non Governmental Organization established by Armenian churches and charitable organizations in Syria. SARF has provided aid to meet educational and medical needs, as well as assistance for food distribution to the most vulnerable population. Funds donated by SARF also enabled minor rehabilitation of bomb-damaged structures to provide habitable spaces.

In Armenia, SARF has partnered with Armenian Redwood Project and OXFAM, a British international aid agency, to provide subsidized housing and integration assistance for refugees. SARF continues to seek out projects and partnerships to help Armenians who have fled Syria and are living as refugees in Armenia and other parts of the Middle East, especially in Lebanon. The needs are staggering. Please help.
